We need new innovations in telecom and communication sector, Tourism market, Renewable energy, Food production, Agricultural sector and even the banking sector. We need to change our cultural Eco-system for innovation and entrepreneurship beyond seeking a job and being satisfied with the minimum wages graciously renter to us by the master. When it comes to innovation I am sure BTC, BEC, Atlantis, Department of Sports, Bahamar, all the govt. ministerial offices, Medical (Doctors Hospital) and even the college of the Bahamas, all need to start to corporate and form a joint venture to enhance the future of our nation. We also have a social responsibility to heal our land through community building more than individually making money and to become rich. Up lifting this generation is the key because the growth is pyramidal and you will never be able to stay at the top with out the proper support at the bottom.
When it comes to intelligence, English language, human energy and economy we are far beyond many of our counter parts in this hemisphere. I dream for a “Bahamian Silicon Valley” even if it takes another 40 years for us to reach there in creating an environment for promoting entrepreneurship and innovations.
If we believe our work will be a success and I am sure it will create a culture of innovation and incubation. We also need to start that from the bottom up starting in our schools. We are the greatest enemy of our own soul and the greatest lie in this world is that we need to do everything through our own strength. But remember we are a nation receive the promise of God and we no need to do it by ourselves because Christ support us in every step of our ways and we can building the kingdom with the kingdom supporters.
You believe or not....the technological revolution the world has seen in our generation is only less than 10% of its potential. That means we are yet to see the 90% of growth and innovation in the technology field alone in our lifetime or beyond. This is my cry to see the part Bahamians are going to play in this global technological revolution.
The Latin roots of the word innovate literally mean “into the new,” and the Bible talk about innovation in Matt: 2: 21-22. "No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”
In Corinthians 10: 3-5 St. Paul encourages the Church to "take every thought captive to obey Christ". Yes let every Bahamian thought "captive to obey Christ" through innovation and stop being a destructive force to the economy and nation building. Let us give an opportunity for our brothers/sisters to redirect the energy in a positive way.
We can't say we call upon the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and think only from a grass root level. God showed Abraham not only the sand in the sea shore but stars in the sky. Jacob receive the support of the stone (which is earthly) but received the vision of heaven (which is heavenly). Every one is in the pit but some are looking at the stars...........let us support the ones looking at the star to reach the star. Remember the one who is looking at the star only will reach the star. I encourages and challenges my students in class room and tell that you are called by God to send the first satellite up from a Bahamian Island for the Bahamians.
Innovation and Incubation is the way forward for our country and we need your support.
